adidas Consortium dig into their old school archive retrieving the 80s edition of the Superstar silhouette for this special ‘Back in the Day’ pack.
The adidas Superstar made it’s debut in 1969 at a time when New York was establishing itself as the epicentre of graffiti culture. The status of the Superstar grew alongside the rise in this new found culture adopted by the inner-city youth. The Superstar was originally championed by top-level ball players which casually made it’s way onto the streets becoming a vital part of street culture. This pack from adidas Consortium celebrates and pays homage to both the culture and the silhouette. The upper consists of white leather with an off white rubber toe-cap and outsole. Matching the tonal inner lining is the three-stripe detailing on the side panels & heel which have been dressed in an embossed snakeskin pattern – a nod to the old school (adidas were the first brand to introduce animal patterns onto sneakers). Completing the package is the extra set of fat laces supplied in the box matching the colours of the three stripe details on the upper.
The adidas Consortium Superstar 80s ‘BITD’ Pack is due to release in-store on Saturday 8th June (mail order will commence from Monday 10th June). Sizes range from UK4 – UK11 (including half sizes) priced at £110.
